🎉🏆🌟 According to the Regional Productivity Index 1.0, the National Productivity Secretariat 🏅📑 held the evaluation of the top 50 Divisional Secretariat Offices 🏛️📊✨ that showed the highest performance in 2025 on 16.06.2026 📅 at the Colombo Galle Face Hotel 🏨🌊.

📈📋 Based on this productivity index, which consisted of 702 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 🏢⚡, out of 284 competing Divisional Secretariat Offices 🏛️🌍, the Mahawa Divisional Secretariat achieved the “AAA” 🌟🥇 Excellence Award and was ranked among the top 50 Divisional Secretariat Offices 🔝🏆 in the country.

🤝🌺 The event was held under the leadership of J.M.T. Jayasundara 👩‍💼 and S. Aloka Bandara 👨‍💼.

📍 D.M.K.C. Dissanayake 👔, L.P. Madanayake 👔, O.V.C. Thilakarathna 👔, and K. Kanakeswaran 👔, together with many Divisional Secretaries from across the island 🌍🏛️, participated in this occasion.

🙏✨ The Grand Chickpea (Kadala) Dansala held in celebration of the Blessed Poson Festival ✨🙏

🪷 To mark the 2026 Poson Full Moon Poya Day, the annual Grand Chickpea Dansala 🥘, organized by the Divisional Secretariat, was successfully held on the evening of June 30, 2026, near the Imbulgodayagama Tank 🌅. 🌊🙌

The inaugural programme of the "Gam Dahasaka Weda Dahasak" (A Thousand Projects in a Thousand Villages) initiative under the Community Strengthening Programme (Praja Shakthi Programme) was held on 02 June 2026. In parallel with the national inauguration, a local programme was conducted in Grama Niladhari Division No. 204 – Ambagaswewa of the Mahawa Divisional Secretariat Division.

Under this programme, with a primary focus on food security, a project has been initiated to supply water from the Deduru Oya to the Natiyagama and Karambe paddy fields, thereby improving irrigation facilities for agricultural cultivation.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Mahawa Pradeshiya Sabha, the Ward Member and other Members of the Pradeshiya Sabha, political representatives, the Divisional Secretary of Mahawa, the Deputy Director, other government officials, officers and members of the Community Development Society, representatives of Farmer Organizations, and local residents.

land Kachcheri Program

Another special day that brought land ownership closer to the people!

The “Land Kachcheri” program, centered on the 141 - Bakmeegahawatta, 152 - Makaduwa, and 143 - Karuwalagahawatta divisions of the Mahawa Divisional Secretariat, was successfully held on 11.06.2026 at 9.00 a.m. at the Bakmeegahawatta Community Hall.

The main objective of this program was to provide practical solutions to long-standing land issues of the people, while ensuring land ownership confirmation and expediting legal documentation processes.

The public had the opportunity to directly present their concerns, and with the intervention of the relevant officials, many issues were given preliminary solutions on the same day.
